Texas Health Dallas Maintains Level IV Maternal Care Designation

DALLAS, Texas - Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas has been redesignated as a Level IV maternal care facility, the highest level available through the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). The designation recognizes the hospital's continued ability to provide comprehensive maternal care, including specialized care for women with the most complex and high-risk pregnancies.

The state designation program evaluates maternal care services and neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) to verify hospitals have the expertise, staffing and resources needed to care for mothers and babies. Texas Health Dallas is one of 32 Level IV maternal care facilities in Texas.

"I am incredibly proud of our care team, whose clinical expertise, dedication to quality and commitment to our family's experience is central to our maternal care program," said Anna Kucuk, M.S.N., R.N., CBC, director of Women and Infants Services at Texas Health Dallas.

"This designation reflects the extraordinary partnership among nurses, physicians on the medical staff and midwives, working together to provide exceptional family-center care for mothers and babies."

More than 4,300 babies are born each year at Texas Health Dallas' Margot Perot Center for Women and Infants, where families have access to a full continuum of maternity services before, during and after delivery. As a Level IV maternal care facility, Texas Health Dallas continues to expand access to specialized care through its collaboration with UT Southwestern Medical Center's Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, whose physicians now provide hospital-based maternal-fetal medicine care.

"Maintaining our Level IV maternal care designation reflects Texas Health Dallas' longstanding commitment to providing the highest level of care for mothers with complex and high-risk pregnancies," said Robert Stewart, M.D., Medical Director of Women's Services at Texas Health Dallas and

Clinical Associate Professor at UT Southwestern. "Our collaboration with UT Southwestern Maternal-Fetal Medicine further strengthens our ability to provide advanced expertise and exceptional care to women and families in Dallas facing the most challenging pregnancy conditions."

Last fall, the hospital launched TeamBirth, a model that strengthens shared decision-making among patients, families and care teams during labor and delivery, further strengthening the hospital's commitment to safe, personalized maternal care.

"Being recognized by the state once again affirms our commitment to providing compassionate, expert care for every family who chooses Texas Health Dallas for their maternal care. It also reflects our continued investment in programs like TeamBirth, technology and specialized services that support the health and well-being of mothers and babies," said Chris York, FACHE, president of Texas Health Dallas.

Other Texas Health hospitals that currently hold this designation include Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano.
