Top 20 Selling Used Makes and Models at ACV Auctions in 2024

Here is a look at our top 20 top selling used makes and models of 2024. The list reads with pretty familiar names at the top of the list and of course starts with F-150. Couple of things we noticed in 2024, the top spots are dominated by trucks, SUVs make up half of the list(especially compact crossovers), and it's a pretty even battle between imports and domestics.

2024 Overall Insights:

Trucks Take the Top Two Spots‍

Trucks claimed five spots, with three in the top 10. The Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 secured the top two rankings, with their most popular selling years being 2018(F-150) and 2014 (Silverado). The Ram 1500 also made the list at eighth place, with 2014 as its top-selling year. ‍

Compact Crossovers Dominate the SUV Category

Ten of the top-selling vehicles in 2024 were SUVs, evenly divided between imports and domestics. The Ford Escape led as the top domestic SUV, while the Honda CR-V ranked highest among imports, highlighting the strong demand for compact crossovers. Five of the SUVs on the list fall into the compact crossover category, indicating a clear preference from both dealers and buyers.

Imports Beat Out Domestics, Barely

The 2024 top-selling vehicles were fairly evenly split between imports and domestics, with imports taking a slight edge at 11 compared to 9 domestics. 6 of the top 10 spots were held by domestics. Each vehicle category followed familiar trends: imports dominated the sedan segment with 5 models, while domestics overwhelmingly led the truck category, with the Toyota Tacoma being the sole import to make the list.

2014 was a Popular Year

The 2014 model year stood out as the most popular, with 6 vehicles making the list, followed by 2015 and 2021, each with 4. This suggests a trend where cars nearing a decade old are highly sought after, alongside newer models like 2021. This mix likely reflects dealers balancing affordable, older inventory with newer options that have depreciated enough to be appealing compared to the higher costs of 2024 models. vehicles.
