Minister of National Defence paid a working visit to Sibiu and Brașov counties on November 12th and 13th, during the final stage of "DACIAN FALL 25" Exercise, where he was briefed on the evolution of the multinational structures deployed to Romania and the way they strengthen the allied cooperation and the defence posture on the eastern flank.
The visit began at the Multinational Corps South-East Headquarters (HQ MNC-SE) in Sibiu, in the presence of ambassadors and military representatives of the allied states. On this occasion, the commander of HQ MNC-SE, Lieutenant General Cristian Dan, presented the subordinate units' readiness level and highlighted their contribution to the consolidation of NATO's command and control capabilities.
During the talks, the officials stressed the essential role of HQ MNC-SE in NATO's command architecture and emphasized its contribution to strengthening the deterrence and defence mechanisms on the eastern flank and ensuring rapid and coherent allied coordination in a constantly evolving security environment.
Afterwards, the officials went to the Joint National Training Center in Cincu, where they witnessed a live-fire exercise conducted by NATO Battle Group Romania, a structure that was raised to brigade-size level as part of the consolidation process of the allied defence posture. The demonstration proved the advanced level of training, interoperability and rapid reaction capacity of the Romanian and allied soldiers.
Minister of National Defence highlighted the ten participating states' contribution to the exercise and the Alliance's political-military commitment to strengthening the deterrence and defence posture on the eastern flank.
"I would like to particularly emphasize France's contribution, whose constant involvement has significantly strengthened the allied defence posture. Just four days after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, France decided to deploy troops to Romania - a prompt, firm gesture and a strong message of solidarity. Ever since, the NATO Battle Group in Cincu, with France as framework nation, has evolved to brigade level, and currently consists of approximately 3,000 French soldiers alongside ours. This demonstrates that allied solidarity is not just a principle, but an operational reality", Minister Moșteanu stated.
The delegation also had the opportunity to discuss with the military participants in the exercise and appreciated their professionalism, dedication and commitment to strengthening collective defence.
