JEFFERSON COUNTY- The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) invites the public to an open house-style meeting to discuss the proposed intersection improvements on Route 61/67 in Jefferson County. This project along U.S. 61/67 stretches 10 miles, beginning at the intersection of Route M and U.S. 61/67 near Barnhart and ending at the intersection of American Legion Dr. and U.S. 61/67 in Festus. It covers the Barnhart township and cities of Pevely, Herculaneum, Crystal City, and Festus.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, September 18 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Pevely City Hall, 401 Main Street, Pevely, MO, 63070.
This project focuses on maintaining the longevity of the life of this stretch of roadway.
The goal is to provide preventive maintenance by resurfacing the existing U.S. 61/67 pavement. Guardrail upgrades along portions of the corridor, pedestrian facility upgrades at the southern end of the project, signal replacements at various locations, and replacing box culverts at Brauhn Creek, Branch of Brauhn Creek, and Gibson Creek.
Although the project will be awarded in Spring 2026, no major impacts will be in place to coordinate with the Jefferson County I-55 Corridor Upgrades construction. When the box culvert replacement work takes place, there will be one lane open using a temporary signal for both directions.
CMS boards will also be in place with details about the public meeting.
No formal presentations will be made during the open-house meeting. Attendees can stop by during the meeting to view the project details and speak with MoDOT representatives and project consultants.
Access for people with disabilities is available. Those who require special services at the public meeting should notify Senior Communications Specialist Rachel V. Sudduth by Monday, September 15, at 314-343-7731 so arrangements can be made.
