The Chief of Public Security, Lt-General Tariq Al Hassan, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Royal Academy of Police (RAP), chaired the 77th meeting of the council. The meeting was attended by RAP Commander, Major-General Fawaz Al Hassan and several council members.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chief praised the support of His Excellency, Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the RAP Board of Trustees, for the Council's efforts in supporting the educational and training process. He emphasised that this support falls within the framework of the Interior Ministry's strategy, which aims to develop the security system by investing in the human element, as it is the cornerstone of achieving comprehensive security.
He stressed that, in line with the directives of HE the Interior Minister to transform into a "smart police" and employ the latest technologies to support security operations, work is underway to develop the Institute of Security Information Systems and Artificial Intelligence Applications at RAP. The institute represents a fundamental pillar in the digital transformation process witnessed by the Interior Ministry, through the adoption of artificial intelligence applications and the development of mechanisms for collecting and analysing big data, intending to support security decision-making processes and enhance performance efficiency across various sectors. He noted that this approach is in line with the Ministry of Interior's vision to advance security work to advanced levels, by investing in modern technology and qualifying national cadres capable of keeping pace with rapid technological developments.
He pointed out that the council is a platform for development and modernisation, in which it contributes to setting educational policies and academic plans to improve outcomes and meeting the latest scientific happening. He hailed the role of the academy in training security personnel within the latest scientific standards.
He indicated that the Academy aspires to launch doctoral programmes soon, thereby enhancing its status as a leading educational institution. He emphasised the importance of graduating highly qualified academic and practical personnel capable of performing their duties efficiently and professionally.
The meeting reviewed the most notable achievements of the first half of 2025, including academic and training programmes, institutional development, and efforts to enhance the Language Centre, thereby improving the language skills of RAP members. Further discussions focused on upgrading the Police Training Institute, particularly in the area of qualifying police personnel and transforming training into an integrated professional path. This focus also emphasised empowering non-commissioned officers and other ranks by providing them with academic and training opportunities, enabling them to perform their duties comprehensively and contribute to delivering the best services to citizens and residents.
The meeting also discussed the implementation of a professional diploma programme for individuals, as a step to enhance their qualifications and skills to keep pace with the requirements of modern security work. The Council also reviewed the Academy's efforts to develop and update its electronic educational and training methods, as well as address practical challenges by studying these cases and transforming them into systematic, purposeful educational and training programmes.
The Chief directed the implementation of workshops, conferences, and scientific lectures in partnership with relevant local and international entities. This will contribute to expanding knowledge horizons, enhancing the exchange of expertise and experiences, and leveraging modern methods, technologies, and artificial intelligence applications. This aligns with the Interior Ministry's efforts to advance the education and training system, contributing to enhancing security readiness and improving police performance in accordance with best practices.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chief expressed thanks and appreciation to the academy and its academic, training and administration teams for their development efforts and for implementing the instructions of the Interior Ministry. He emphasised that RAP would remain a pioneering educational and security institution, keeping pace with scientific and technological developments and supporting the Interior Ministry's mission to consolidate security and stability and preserve national accomplishments.
