Castro Statement on Government Spending Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Joaquin Castro (TX-20) released the following statement on his vote against the Continuing Resolution (CR) that funds the government until January 30, 2026.

"I voted no on this disastrous bill.

"The Republican party, with Trump at the helm, has done nothing to lower costs for families. They have wielded their power to line the pockets of the wealthy. Earlier this year, Republicans gutted Medicaid by over a trillion dollars and cut food assistance for families in need by $186 billion. This bill continues their attack on families.

"House Democrats took up the fight to protect affordable healthcare. Texas has the highest rate of uninsured folks in the country, and Affordable Care Act tax credits helped 3 million Texans afford healthcare. For far too many, this now means the difference between life and death.

"I will continue to fight for the healthcare that Texans and people across the country need and deserve."
