Plymouth State University to Host Annual Student Research Showcase

The public is invited to view over 100 student presentations from a variety of disciplines

Plymouth, N.H. (April 21, 2026)- Plymouth State University (PSU) students from various disciplines, including the arts, humanities and sciences, will present projects on a variety of topics including health, biology, psychology and more during the 2026 Showcase of Student Research and Engagement. The event will take place on Friday, May 1, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Hartman Union Building Courtroom, with satellite events located at the Silver Center for the Performing Arts and the Museum of the White Mountains.

Plymouth State University students from various disciplines, including the arts, humanities and sciences, will present projects on a variety of topics including mental health, biology, history and more during the 2026 Showcase of Student Research and Engagement on Friday, May 1. Plymouth State University's Cluster Learning Model allows students to bridge their academic and extracurricular interests with global challenges. The interdisciplinary model strengthens students' personal growth and integrates them into the community from the start of their time at PSU to beyond graduation. While at PSU, students take part in real-world projects, collaborating with peers and faculty from other disciplines, as well as outside businesses and organizations, community leaders and others to gain practical experience. For first year students, these projects are part of a course called Tackling a Wicked Problem, in which students team up to propose solutions to real world problems. Other projects are part of a senior's capstone course. Students showcase their projects to the campus community and public annually each spring.

The campus community and the public are invited to explore the projects and to discuss the processes, research and scholarly achievements with student presenters.

This year's Showcase highlights a variety of projects, including reconstructing Holocene-era fire events, weather forecast predictability, and childhood sports participation effects, among others.
