OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS TO THE REPUBLIC OF TURKMENISTAN 9 - 10 SEPTEMBER 2024

Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan will undertake an official visit to the Republic of Turkmenistan from 9 to 10 September 2024.

During his visit, the Foreign Minister is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President of the Republic of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to deliver a letter of invitation from Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim for President Berdimuhamedov to undertake an official visit to Malaysia in December 2024.

In Ashgabat, the Foreign Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with his counterpart, Foreign Minister and Vice President of the Republic of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, to discuss economic relations, education, tourism, and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister is also expected to call on National Leader of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The visit of the Foreign Minister will be preceded by the 5 th Bilateral Consultation between Malaysia and the Republic of Turkmenistan at the Senior Officials' level on 9 September 2024.

In 2023, Turkmenistan was Malaysia's fourth-largest trading partner among Central Asian countries, with a total trade value of RM48.62 million (USD10.57 million).
