Joint Study Committee on Generational Sustainability of Family Farms to Hold First Meeting in Perry

ATLANTA - The Joint Study Committee on Generational Sustainability of Family Farms, co-chaired by State Representative Robert Dickey (R-Musella) and State Senator Russ Goodman (R-Cogdell), will hold its first meeting on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at the Miller Murphy Howard Building in Perry, Ga.

During the meeting, members of the joint study committee will discuss issues affecting Georgia's agricultural and forestry industries, including the financial outlook for family farms, forecasts for forest markets and changes to federal farm programs. The joint committee will also hear testimony on customer service and diagnostic tools available to farmers.

Created by House Resolution 1416, the Joint Study Committee on Generational Sustainability of Family Farms will examine the conditions and challenges facing Georgia's family farms and recommend legislative solutions to strengthen existing markets, prepare the next generation of farmers and address the long-term sustainability of the state's agricultural economy.
