Gas Main Replacement on I-84 East and Westbound in Danbury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that a gas main replacement project will be performed on I-84 east and westbound in Danbury (beginning at the Westville Avenue overpass, 0.3 miles east of the east bound Exit 4 ramp to Lake Avenue Routes 6/202) starting on Monday, October 6 through Thursday, November 6, 2025.The project consists of replacing the existing gas main on Bridge #01183 over I-84 in Danbury.

This project is under an encroachment permit for Eversource's mandatory gas main upgrade replacement program.

LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO

Motorists can expect a ramp closure of the I-84 eastbound Exit 4 entrance ramp in Danbury to take place intermittently. The night work schedule for this project is 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will follow a posted detour or advised to seek alternate routes.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
