Connecticut Congressional Delegation Announces $75.3 Million in LIHEAP Funding to Connecticut

Hartford, CT - Today, Reps. John B. Larson (CT-01), Joe Courtney (CT-02), Rosa DeLauro (CT-03), Jim Himes (CT-04), and Jahana Hayes (CT-05), and Senators Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy announced over $75.3 million in Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding to Connecticut for FY27 allocated through the Continuing Resolution. This funding comes after the Trump Administration's proposed FY27 budget included the elimination of the LIHEAP program and as Connecticut families are dealing with skyrocketing costs to heat their homes due to the war in Iran.

"LIHEAP is a lifeline to nearly 100,000 Connecticut families, including children and seniors, helping them to heat their homes. As this war of choice in Iran causes oil costs to soar, more and more families will struggle to afford their utility bills. As a delegation, we have fought to protect and strengthen LIHEAP, especially under threats of elimination by President Trump. We are proud to have secured $75.3 million for Connecticut's first round of funding from LIHEAP - one of the earliest releases of funding in years. We will continue to deliver the resources Connecticut families depend on and defend this funding from this administration's attacks so no one has to choose between heating their home and buying groceries," said the delegation.

Connecticut residents can apply for energy assistance through the Connecticut Department of Social Services, available here.
