Without Trump Endorsement, Sears Turns to - Checks Notes - Newt Gingrich as Star Surrogate

As Donald Trump still refuses to endorse Winsome Sears in Virginia less than 40 days out from Election Day, her campaign is turning to a new top surrogate: washed up and failed 2012 presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.

Gingrich went on Fox Business in a sad and underwhelming attempt to defend Sears' flailing campaign, but he didn't even know if former Representative Abigail Spanberger was a current member of Congress.

Sears enlisting a washed up politician like Gingrich for support comes in the middle of her embarrassingly small, low-energy bust tour stops that she hasn't even shown up for, while she continues to face heat for cheering on Trump's devastating health care cuts and job-killing agenda.

"Instead of answering questions about how Donald Trump's agenda that she cheered on is killing Virginia jobs, closing rural health clinics, and raising prices, Winsome Sears is enlisting long-forgotten, washed up national GOP losers to try to save her clown car of a campaign," said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton. "I guess Sears begging at the White House for Trump's help continues to be another one of her failures."
