City of Davenport to Hold Special Election for Ward 2

The City of Davenport has received a qualifying petition requesting a special election to fill the vacancy in the office of Second Ward Alderman pursuant to Iowa Code § 372.13(2).

Individuals residing in the Second Ward who are interested in running for the vacant City Council seat may begin filing nomination papers immediately. The filing deadline is 5:00 P.M. on November 20, 2026. Completed nomination papers must be submitted to the Scott County Auditor's Office, located at 600 W 4th Street, Fifth Floor.

The Davenport City Council will consider a resolution calling for a special election during its first cycle in November. The resolution will be presented at the November 4 Committee of the Whole meeting, with final action scheduled for the November 10 City Council Meeting.

The Ward 2 special election is scheduled for January 12, 2027. If more than two candidates file for the seat, a primary election will be held on December 15, 2026. Polling locations will be determined by the Scott County Auditor's Office.

Bob Inghram will continue to serve as the Second Ward Alderman until a successor is elected at the special election. If he wishes to continue serving beyond his appointment, he must file the necessary nomination papers to appear on the special election ballot.
