SCO Secretary General Participates in High-Level Event on Primary Health Care
On 24 September 2025, at the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York, USA, the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev, participated in a high-level event on the theme "The Political Economy of Primary Health Care Implementation: Key Policy Shifts." The event was organized by the Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Health Organization.
A message of greetings from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the participants of the meeting was delivered by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akmaral Alnazarova.
SCO Secretary General Participates in High-Level Event on Primary Health Care
In his statement, the SCO Secretary-General underscored the central importance of primary health care as the cornerstone of national health systems, emphasizing the necessity of ensuring equitable access to medical services and strengthening the resilience of health systems. He also provided information on the development of cooperation among SCO Member States in the areas of sanitary and epidemiological safety, telemedicine, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, and traditional medicine.
The high-level event was attended by the Director-General of the World Health Organization, the Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), as well as Ministers of Health and senior representatives of UN Member States, including Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
