Hopscotch Montessori to Double in Size at VIA 57 WEST

Expansion to support growing elementary and early childhood programs at the base of the West Side luxury residential building

NEW YORK, NY (November 2, 2026) - The Durst Organization today announced that Hopscotch Montessori, which opened at the base of VIA 57 WEST in 2020, will significantly expand by doubling in size to accommodate growing enrollment and broaden educational offerings. The school will grow to 13,719 square feet, including six new classrooms for elementary and early childhood programs, and more dedicated space for arts, science, physical education, and other programming. The expansion will open in September 2027 for the 2027-2028 school year.

The expansion will give us even more opportunities to provide that experience as our students and community grow."

Hopscotch Montessori offers Montessori education for children from infancy through age 12 and currently serves approximately 140 families each year at VIA 57 WEST. The school combines the Montessori method with an international approach to education, and its elementary school is currently a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).

The expanded campus will allow Hopscotch to create more tailored environments for different stages of childhood development, including expanded programming for one-year-olds, toddlers ages two to three, primary students ages three to five, and elementary-age children. The additional classrooms and specialty spaces will support a continuous educational experience for students through age 12.

Located at 625 West 57th Street, VIA 57 WEST is The Durst Organization's iconic residential building designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The 57 WEST campus has nearly 1,400 residential rental units across three buildings - VIA 57 WEST, FRANK 57 WEST, and HELENA 57 WEST. Other retail tenants and amenities operating across 57 WEST include pupculture; Club Pilates; Anthology Wine & Spirits; Hudson Market; Soul Dental; F45 Training; the Hospital for Special Surgery; and two parking garages.
