Spanish Government condemns latest attack on UNRWA facilities in East Jerusalem

Today

The Spanish Government condemns the latest attack on UNRWA facilities, carried out this morning in East Jerusalem by Israeli security forces in an unacceptable violation of the privileges and immunities of the United Nations agency.

The Spanish Government categorically rejects this violation, in which bulldozers are demolishing buildings belonging to the United Nations agency that are protected by international law immunities, under the supervision of the Israeli authorities.

Spain once again urges the Israeli Government to respect international law and obligations, including the advisory opinions of the International Court of Justice, which form part of the order that all members of the United Nations have established.

In light of these serious events, the Government reiterates its support for UNRWA and its essential mandate to meet the needs of the Palestinian refugee population until a just and lasting peace is achieved in the region.
