Moolenaar Secures Funding for Second District Communities

Today, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 8646, which provides full-year funding for the Department of Agriculture, for rural development, and the Food and Drug Administration. The Agriculture Appropriations Act delivers significant wins for Michigan farmers, funding plant and animal health programs, investing in research programs for specialty crops, and ensuring access to food assistance programs like SNAP for low-income Michigan families. The legislation also includes funding, requested by Congressman John Moolenaar, for projects in communities across Michigan's Second Congressional District.

"The agriculture appropriations bill is a major win for Michigan farmers, investing in research and proven programs which ensure they can succeed. It also provides critical funding to rural communities throughout our district. As the only member of the House Appropriations Committee from our state, I am committed to working with local leaders to secure federal funding for projects to ensure rural communities in our district are not left behind. Funding like this will go to help serve the communities, improve quality of life for rural residents," said Moolenaar.

H.R. 8646 passed the House today in a bipartisan vote of 213 to 210.

Beaverton - $937,500 for the Four Lakes Restoration-Dam Operations Building

Montcalm County - $1,125,000 for the construction of Michigan State University Montcalm Agricultural Research Center

Village of Shepherd - $363,750 for the village fire department to replace outdated Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus air packs.

Village of Saranac - $810,000 to construct a new Department of Public Works facility.
