CASAA Research Day aims to connect research and community

The Center for Alcohol and Substance Use and Addictions will welcome all members of the community to connect with researchers and learn more about substance use research and treatment.

The fourth annual CASAA Research Day hosted at the CASAA building at 2650 Yale Blvd. SE. On Thursday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guest speakers include Dr. Leslie Brick, Dr. Colin Mahoney, and Dr. Jessica Goodkind.

"CASAA is a world-renowned research center at the cutting edge of addiction science and treatment. But, just as importantly, CASAA is a part of the greater Albuquerque and New Mexico communities, and CASAA Research Day is one of the ways we try to connect the work that we are doing with the communities we are serving," said event organizer and associate professor of psychology Joshua Grubbs.

Each talk will be followed by a discussion with the speakers about how research can be conducted that connects them with other scientists and the larger community. In addition, CASAA researchers and affiliates will present posters showcasing their research.

CASAA Research Day will end with a presentation and discussion with graduate students about their ongoing research projects and the ways CASAA and the field can support trainees. There is no cost to attend CASAA Research Day; however, registration is required to ensure there is enough food and space for everyone.
