Gulf Islands National Seashore in Florida, Mississippi closes for Hurricane Isaias

News Release Date: October 8, 2026

GULF BREEZE, Fla.
- As a result of a National Weather Service advisory, and in accordance with the Severe Weather Emergency Action Plan, Gulf Islands National Seashore is closed in preparation for Hurricane Isaias.

Highway 399 east and west bound on Santa Rosa Island in Florida will close Friday, October 9 at 8 a.m.

The following areas are closed until further notice:

Florida
- Fort Barrancas Area, Naval Live Oaks Area, Fort Pickens Management Area, Santa Rosa Management Area (Opal Beach), Perdido Key Management Area (Johnson Beach), Okaloosa Area and Crab Island.

Mississippi
- All the barrier islands including Ship Island and Davis Bayou Area.
