Comprehensive Transportation Plan Meeting Jan. 14

Newton County continues to develop its Comprehensive Transportation Plan with input from the public.

The second public survey is now open and an open house will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Turner Lake Park. The open house is from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. with guests encouraged to come by at any time.

The CTP will update plans completed in 2008 and 2017 and to update past priorities and help guide the county's transportation needs through 2050. The plan will assess existing and future transportation conditions and needs leading to the development of recommended policies and transportation projects.

The purpose of the CTP is to identify long-range transportation strategies, projects and programs that meet anticipated mobility and accessibility countywide needs.

The outcome of the Newton County CTP will be to document:

  • Existing and future transportation conditions and needs
  • Proposed transportation projects including costs and funding sources
  • Action items to implement the recommendations programmed through 2050
