Announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the repatriation of Greeks from the Middle East (05.03.2026)

Following instructions by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and through the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Missions Abroad, the first repatriation operations of Greek citizens and their family members from the Middle East were successfully completed on 03.03.2026 and 04.03.2026.

Specifically, the following were repatriated:

• 93 Greek citizens and their family members from Oman, by special flight operated by Aegean Airlines, coordinated by the Embassies of Greece in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.

• 42 Greek citizens from Bethlehem, who were transported by road to Egypt, escorted by the Consul General of Greece in Jerusalem.

• 27 members of the ARIS THESSALONIKI youth team, who traveled by air from the United Arab Emirates to Istanbul and from there by road to Thessaloniki, with the assistance of the Consul General of Greece in Istanbul.

The operations are ongoing. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains on full alert in order to provide all possible assistance to Greek citizens affected by the armed conflict in the wider Middle East.
