VICTORY FOR GUN SAFETY: Katie Hobbs Re-elected Governor of Arizona

WASHINGTON - Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and its grassroots networks, Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, declared a major victory today as voters re-elected Governor Katie Hobbs in Arizona.

"For four years, Governor Hobbs' veto pen has kept the most dangerous gun bills from becoming law, and we're thrilled Arizonans have given her four more years to keep their communities safe," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Everytown congratulates Governor Hobbs on her re-election, and looks forward to working with her to build an even safer Arizona."

"Arizona volunteers have watched Governor Hobbs stand up for their families again and again, and this fall they returned the favor," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "They spent months talking to neighbors in every corner of the state about what her leadership has meant for their communities, and our movement is proud to have her back in the governor's office."

"Four years ago, Arizona volunteers helped elect a governor who promised to put our safety first, and Governor Hobbs kept that promise. When dangerous gun bills landed on her desk, she stopped them in their tracks, and we're safer because of it," said Nihar Bhave, a volunteer with Students Demand Action in Arizona. "That's why grassroots volunteers across the state fought so hard to re-elect her, and we're eager to work with her in her second term."

This cycle, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Victory Fund, and the Democratic Governors Association, announced a $3 million effort to elect gun-sense governors in Arizona, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, and Wisconsin. Last cycle, Everytown helped elect former Moms Demand Action volunteer Abigail Spanberger as Governor of Virginia, and in her first legislative session, she signed a ban on the sale of assault weapons and 20 other gun safety bills into law.

Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund endorsed 503 gun safety champions running at every level of government, from statehouses to governor's offices. Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action volunteers made more than 15 million voter contacts to help elect them.
