Trilateral Meeting of the Bulgarian, Romanian and Turkish Defence Ministers, at Brussels

On Wednesday, October 15th, Minister of National Defence, Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu, had a trilateral meeting with his counterparts from the Republic of Bulgaria, Atanas Zaprianov, and Türkiye, Yașar Güler, as part of the NATO Defence Ministers Meeting, which is taking place in Brussels.

The meeting agenda focused on strengthening security in the Black Sea region, in particular by continuing to develop projects of common interest for the three riparian allies, such as the Black Sea Mine Countermeasures Task Group - MCM Black Sea; the Romania-Bulgaria- Türkiye Military Mobility Corridor and the Regional Special Operations Component Command - HQ R-SOCC.

Minister of National Defence reiterated the essential role that MCM Black Sea plays for the security of navigation in the Black Sea, as well as the need for continued involvement of allies in this initiative. In the second semester of this year, Romania took over the command of MCM Black Sea for six months, with two activations of the Group.

Recently, mine clearance divers tested their reaction speed and coordination with their partners from the MCM Black Sea Task Group during the POSEIDON 25 Exercise, which took place in Romania.
