MPSC to hold Oct. 15 Commission meeting in Upper Peninsula

The Michigan Public Service Commission's Oct. 15 regular meeting will be held at Michigan Technological University in Houghton as the Commission and Staff head over the Mackinac Bridge for outreach with Upper Peninsula residents.

The Commission meeting will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, at Michigan Tech's Memorial Union Building, Ballroom 207A, at 1400 Townsend Drive in Houghton. The meeting also will be livestreamed on Microsoft Teams. An agenda for the Commission meeting will be posted on Oct. 14.

"Holding a Commission meeting in the UP gives Yoopers a chance to share their thoughts and concerns directly with the MPSC, and we're excited to hear from you," MPSC Chair Dan Scripps said. "We also look forward to discussions with community groups and leaders from across the UP on Michigan's energy future and the UP's unique energy needs."

While in the UP, Commissioners will meet with community groups and interested organizations, and will also participate in the North American Power Symposium 2026, an annual national event held Oct. 11-13 this year at Michigan Tech, bringing together students, faculty and industry leaders in power engineering and research. Chair Scripps will participate in a panel at the symposium.

Directly following the symposium, Michigan Day also will be held at Michigan Tech on Oct. 13. The day enables networking and collaboration between Michiganders from academia, industry, and government who work in the field of electric power systems. Michigan Day will feature a panel with Chair Scripps and Commissioners Katherine Peretick and Shaquila Myers, in addition to talks by researchers from Michigan Tech, the University of Michigan's Ann Arbor and Dearborn campuses, Michigan State University and Wayne State University.
