NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (June 3, 2026) - Mayor Jim Cahill joined housing officials and community partners to celebrate the ribbon-cutting for Stirlingside Residences recently, a new 53-unit mixed-income apartment community expanding affordable housing for local families.
The project is a collaborative effort among The Community Builders (TCB), the City of New Brunswick, the New Brunswick Housing Authority, Middlesex County, and the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA).
"Stirlingside Residences represents the kind of thoughtful development New Brunswick is proud to support… development that creates opportunity, strengthens neighborhoods, and ensures that families of all backgrounds can continue to call our City home," Mayor Cahill said. "This project reflects what can be accomplished when strong public and private partners work together with a shared commitment to affordable housing, community stability, and a brighter future for our residents."
Located near downtown New Brunswick, the community features 13 three-bedroom, 30 two-bedroom, and 10 one-bedroom apartments. Six homes are set aside for families and individuals who have experienced homelessness. Amenities include a community room, fitness center, bicycle storage, and on-site property management.
TCB has developed 244 homes in New Brunswick since being designated for the City's HOPE VI Revitalization Plan in 1998.
