Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) will host five Paying for College Workshops, offering students and families free, in-person guidance on navigating the cost of higher education. Workshops will be held in St. Louis, Kennett, Sikeston and Cape Girardeau.
The Paying for College Workshops are open to all high school and transfer students, regardless of whether they plan to attend SEMO. Each session will feature resources from the Missouri College & Career Attainment Network (MOCAN), a presentation from Student Financial Services, and opportunities to receive one-on-one assistance with financial aid, completing the FAFSA and planning next steps. A complimentary dinner will be provided at each workshop.
"College is a major investment, and paying for it can be one of the biggest uncertainties students and families face," said Katie Krodinger, executive director of admissions & new student programs. "We never want a student to opt out of college simply because they're unsure how they'll pay for it."
The workshops are designed to make the college financing process more approachable and help students and families feel prepared to make informed decisions about their education.
"These workshops are about more than SEMO," Krodinger said. "Families leave with not only information, but confidence and a plan."
Workshops will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. on the following dates:
