Dexter: “Portland sees this authoritarian takeover for what it is, and we will not bend the knee”
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Maxine Dexter, M.D. (OR-03) released the following statement after the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals granted the federal government's motion to stay the first Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) blocking the president's order to deploy federalized Oregon National Guard troops to Portland:
"Portland is a peaceful, kind, and loving place. Today's ruling, if allowed to stand, does not change that.
"Trump wants to incite violence and chaos. Portland sees this authoritarian takeover for what it is, and we will not bend the knee.
"We will remain united. We will meet this moment the way we've met every challenge-with care, courage, and an unwavering commitment to protecting our neighbors."
