Introduction of Scopus AI

In July 2025, JAIST introduced "Scopus AI" developed and provided by Elsevier Inc. and use it as the standard AI for AI-driven research and development activities. All faculty, staff and students can use the AI tool.

"Scopus AI" is a generative AI tool built on Scopus, the world's largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature. It is designed to provide advanced support for researchers in literature discovery, research topic development, and competitive research funding applications. The tool is expected to significantly enhance research strategies at JAIST.

"Scopus AI" adopts a framework based on "RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) + LLM". It generates responses exclusively using curated data from Scopus, which greatly reduces the risk of hallucination-the generation of inaccurate or fabricated information often associated with AI models. Furthermore, "Scopus AI" features a Copilot function that transparently.

However, it should be noted that hallucination is an inherent risk in generative AI, and it cannot be completely eliminated. Therefore, users must exercise sufficient caution when utilizing the tool. JAIST will host guidance sessions and workshops. Please make use of this tool and actively utilize it for the further development of your research and learning activities.
