WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) announces that the 2026 Congressional Art Competition is now open to high school students residing in North Carolina's First Congressional District. Sponsored annually by the Congressional Institute, the competition recognizes and celebrates the creativity and artistic achievement of high school students from across the nation.
"Eastern North Carolina is rich with creativity, imagination, and promise," said Congressman Davis."I am inspired by the powerful stories students tell through their artwork, and I am proud to highlight their voices and visions each year. When we invest in young people and their creativity, we strengthen our communities and help shape a brighter future."
Online Submission Deadline: Friday, April 3, 2026, by 5:00 P.M.
Registration must be submitted by the deadline.Artwork may not exceed 26 inches by 26 inches, may be no more than 4 inches deep when framed, and must weigh 15 pounds or less.
Eligible two-dimensional artwork includes:
Paintings (oil, acrylic, watercolor)
Drawings (pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, markers)
Collages (two-dimensional only)
Prints (lithographs, silkscreen, block prints)
Mixed media (using two or more artistic mediums)
Computer-generated art
Photography
All entries must be original in concept, design, and execution and must comply with U.S. copyright laws. Artwork copied from photographs or images created by someone other than the student will not be accepted. Entries must be submitted in their original medium; scanned or reproduced works are ineligible.
The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year, alongside artwork from congressional districts across the country. Two runners-up will have their pieces displayed in Congressman Davis' district office.
