Lee’s Presidential Concert Series to Present A Night of Jazz

The Lee University Presidential Concert Series will continue with a special performance by the university's own Alan Wyatt, a renowned jazz musician and teacher, on Monday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Dixon Center. This concert will feature a talented ensemble of musicians and showcase Wyatt's exceptional skills as both a performer and teacher in the world of jazz.

"We are excited to present Alan Wyatt, whose musical expertise has enriched both Lee University and the wider community for decades," said Darlia Conn, director of Lee's Presidential Concert Series. "Together with some of his dearest friends and colleagues, this concert will showcase the extraordinary jazz talent in our hometown."

Known for his musicianship, Wyatt has performed and toured with artists such as Frank Sinatra Jr., The Temptations, The Four Tops, Tito Puente Jr., Natalie Cole, Manhattan Transfer, Melissa Manchester, Doc Severinson, Hank Jones, and Clay Aiken. He has also toured with the Dorsey Brothers Orchestra, Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra and was a featured soloist on the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra recordings Progressive Jazz 2009 and Fleet Street.

Wyatt, an associate professor in Lee's School of Music, began teaching at Lee in 1990 and teaches courses such as applied saxophone, commercial music theory and history, and jazz improvisation. He also directs the Lee University Jazz Band.

Wyatt maintains his high level of performance through engagements with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, and Knoxville Jazz Orchestra, among others. He has also served as a clinician and performer for area jazz festivals, most recently for the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association as clinician and improvisation lecturer for the Senior Jazz Clinic.
