Seawolves add former Div. I guard Coleman

Anchorage (July 10) - UAA men's basketball coach Rusty Osborne has added another dynamic backcourt talent to his 2025-26 roster, announcing Thursday that former Div. I guard Jeremiah Coleman has signed a scholarship agreement with the Seawolves.

Coleman, 6-1, 175 pounds, comes north after an injury-shortened sophomore season at junior college program Hillsborough College in Florida, where he posted 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. He also shot 49 percent from the field and 11 of 26 (.423) from long range in a six-game sample.

Previously, the Parker, Colo., native spent two seasons at NCAA Div. I program South Dakota, redshirting in 2023-24. As a true freshman, he saw action in 25 games and scored a season-high five points in USD's loss to SEC foe Mississippi State.

"We are excited to welcome Jeremiah to the Seawolf family," said Osborne. "He gives us a different dynamic at the point guard position with his quickness and athleticism. He has played at a high level in high school and South Dakota, and he was playing extremely well at Hillsborough before being injured. He can get into the lane, but also shoot the ball well if the drive gets taken away."

Coleman played his first two seasons of high school basketball at Chaparral High School in the Denver area, where he helped the Wolverines to a state quarterfinal berth and became the first sophomore in program history to make first-team all-conference as a sophomore. He spent his final two campaigns at Colorado Prep, playing under former NBA star James Silas in The Grind League.

"Coach (Ryan) Engebretsen did a great job identifying Jeremiah in the late spring and initiating his recruitment," Osborne added. "Although not connected to (former Seawolf standouts) Tyson Gilbert and Sean Evans, he continues a nice tradition of talented players from the Parker, Colo., area coming to Anchorage. We are looking forward to meshing the various skill sets that our newcomers possess and how they will complement each other along with our returning backcourt/wing players."

Coleman becomes the seventh member of UAA's 2025 recruiting class, alongside fellow transfers Cole Johnson (6-1/180, G, Kaysville, Utah/Farmington HS/Colorado Northwestern CC), Akok Machar (6-7/180, G, Adelaide, Australia/Texas-Tyler), Elijah Mobley (6-1/190, G, Chicago, Ill./Weston Ranch [Calif.] HS/Las Positas College) and Sylas Williams (6-7/210, F, Bothell, Wash./Jackson HS/Skagit Valley College), and incoming freshmen Marek Hajdukovich (6-2/185, G, Anchorage/Dimond HS) and Muhammed Sabally (6-4/190, G, Anchorage/East HS).
