Kennedy Confirmation Hearings: “HHS Requires Leadership that Understands…”

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. completed two confirmation hearings this week to be the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in the Trump administration.

Following is reaction from Matthew Tejada, senior vice president of environmental health at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council):

"Mr. Kennedy showed a shocking lack of knowledge around the basics of the agency and refused to step away from damaging anti-science rhetoric. The Health and Human Services department impacts the health of every American. With lives literally at stake, HHS requires leadership that understands its mission, supports its science, and has the expertise to lead a massive and specialized workforce."

NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) is an international nonprofit environmental organization with more than 3 million members and online activists. Established in 1970, NRDC uses science, policy, law and people power to confront the climate crisis, protect public health and safeguard nature.
