Senator Warren Statement on September 2025 CPI

Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, released the following statement:

"President Trump failed to deliver on his campaign promise to lower costs on 'day one.' His chaotic tariffs and failed economic policies are driving the costs of groceries, rent, and utilities even higher. Medical care costs have risen more since January than in all of 2024 - and health care costs will only skyrocket further because Trump and Republicans ripped health care away from 15 million Americans and drove up premiums for millions more.

"While this report was released, the Trump Administration refuses to release the already prepared September jobs numbers before the Fed meets next week to decide on interest rates. Trump must stop hiding the jobs numbers, re-open the government, and stop making life harder for American families."
