This year comes with a key turning point: a revamped methodology.

What's new?

EIGE's Gender Equality Index has been established as a flagship tool for understanding the state of gender equality across the EU and its Member States since its inception in 2013.

But in a changing world, in which realities and policy focus has shifted, we are presenting sharper data in this year's Index 2025 edition to help policymakers close persisting gender gaps faster.

With these changes the Index sets a more powerful benchmark for tracking progress on gender equality.

What to expect?

As well as our updated methodology, we are looking at each area of life through the lens of gender stereotypes as the thematic focus this year. We are shedding light on how these persistent gender norms shape our daily lives, choices, and opportunities.
