The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) announces that Marty Saggese advised he will be stepping down as Executive Director effective January 31, 2026. During Marty's 24 years of leadership at SfN he has guided, supported, and facilitated a series of extraordinary accomplishments, which have positioned SfN to fulfill its mission in perpetuity. These include:
"It has been an honor to serve as SfN's Executive Director through challenges and accomplishments both expected and unprecedented. I am proud of the support SfN provides for the field and I am confident that the next executive director will carry this forward," Saggese said.
SfN President John Morrison said, "Marty's knowledge of the field, acumen for thoughtful decision-making, and convening of the volunteer leadership have allowed SfN to grow as a strong pillar of support for neuroscience. I want to thank Marty for everything he has done and wish him all the best moving forward. While it is a challenging time for science, Marty has laid the foundation for SfN to continue its mission and serve the field."
SfN has appointed a search committee and begun a search for the next Executive Director and expects to have a replacement selected in time for a seamless transition in the New Year.
