WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Bureau of Land Management generated more than $4.1 billion in total receipts from oil and gas lease sales held in the second quarter of 2026 - in line with the Trump administration's Energy Dominance initiative. These revenues reflect an ongoing focus on unleashing domestic energy, supporting job growth, and promoting efficient, streamlined permitting and leasing processes.

"This quarter's totals generated more revenue than the entire four-years of the Biden administration and it shows how we can use public lands to their fullest potential," said BLM Director Steve Pearce. "These successful sales demonstrate the BLM's unwavering commitment to fostering American Energy Dominance while ensuring public lands are supporting national security, economic strength and the livelihood of the American people."

From April through June, the BLM sold 389 parcels totaling 355,456 acres for $4.1 billion in total receipts for its second quarter of calendar year 2026 oil and gas lease sales, with most of the revenue coming from New Mexico. The combined bonus bids and rentals from the leases will be distributed between the federal government and the states where the parcels are located. The BLM held additional oil and gas lease sales in Alaska, Colorado, Nevada, North and South Dakota, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.

A record oil and gas lease sale in May generated more than $4 billion in total receipts in New Mexico and Texas, underscoring strong industry demand for domestic energy development on public lands. In that sale, the BLM sold 74 parcels on 33,530 acres.

In June, the BLM held an oil and gas lease sale in Alaska's Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This was the second successful sale in the area under President Trump's leadership and the first since the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The sale brought in an additional $4.5 million from five tracts on 72,049 acres.

The BLM's lease sales have generated $4.7 billion in 2026, with first quarter sales of $592.7 million from January through March.

Oil and gas lease sales support domestic energy production and American energy independence while contributing to the nation's economic and military security. Consistent with Executive Order 14154, "Unleashing American Energy," BLM's lease sales help meet the energy needs of U.S. citizens and solidify the nation as a global energy leader long into the future.

The BLM manages about 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America's public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
