CBA includes average wage increases of 11.25% across 4 years and expanded benefits package
Today, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and SEIU Local 500 concluded the 2025 bargaining process with a collective bargaining agreement that reflects the DNC's commitment to recruiting and retaining top talent and recognizing the professionalism and expertise of its staff.
This four-year agreement - the first of its kind for the DNC - was voted on by staff union members on Friday July 11th - Tuesday July 15th, and will be effective July 1, 2025 through May 31, 2029.
The agreement reflects wage increases across the board for union members, with an average wage increase of 11.75% over the length of the agreement and a 14.75% increase for staff earning less than $80,000 annually. Future entry level staff will start at a higher minimum salary.
Additional highlights of the agreement include:
DNC Executive Director Roger Lau said, "Our people are our greatest asset, and they work hard every day to elect leaders who deliver an affordable, livable future for Americans where workers are treated with dignity. Today's agreement is a testament to the DNC living those values. Like every American, DNC staff should have the tools to thrive at work, support their families, and be treated with respect."
SEIU Local 500 Executive Director Travis B. Simon said, "This agreement is a testament to the power of collective bargaining and the DNC's commitment to its staff. Our members work tirelessly to advance the Democratic Party's mission, and this contract reflects their dedication and professionalism. With significant wage increases, enhanced benefits, and improved working conditions, we've ensured that DNC staff will have the support and resources they need to thrive, both professionally and personally. We're proud to have achieved a contract that truly values the people who make the DNC run."
Members of the DNC Staff Union bargaining committee said, "We entered this bargaining session with a clear mandate from our members, and we are proud of the historic improvements delivered in this collective bargaining agreement. This would not have been possible without the engagement and solidarity of our membership. We look forward to continuing our productive partnership with DNC Leadership to build a respectful, thriving workplace."
DNC staff are members of SEIU Local 500, the fastest growing union in greater Washington, D.C. that represents employees of non-profits in the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C. metro area.
