McCombie Responds to Governor’s Latest Extreme Abortion Initiative

In response to Governor JB Pritzker's new initiative to secure private funding for abortion in Illinois through the creation of the Prairie State Access Fund, House Minority Leader Tony McCombie released the following statement:

"Illinois already has some of the most extreme abortion laws in the nation and now the Governor is using the power of his office to turn our state into the abortion destination for the country.

"While families are struggling with the highest property taxes in the Midwest, rising crime, and a growing cost-of-living crisis, this administration is celebrating that nearly one in four abortions nationwide now happen in Illinois.

"Calling this a 'philanthropic partnership' doesn't change the reality. The Governor is leveraging government resources, staff, and influence to promote and expand abortion services and creating a pathway that could easily lead to future taxpayer funding.

"Illinois families want affordability, safety, and responsible budgeting. Instead, they're getting more ideological spending and more misplaced priorities."
