Lions World Vision Institute, Glazer Vision Foundation Bring Eye Exams, Glasses To Tampa Kids News Parks and Recreation Children under 18 are getting free vision screenings[...]

Children under 18 are getting free vision screenings and, if needed, being fitted same day with free glasses, thanks to the Glazer Vision Foundation and the Lions World Vision Institute.

Since 2021, the Glazer Vision Foundation and the Lions World Vision Institute have visited Parks and Recreation centers during the summer.

"This tremendous program identifies children who get the opportunity to have eye issues detected," Parks and Recreation Director Regina McBride said. "And to get this assistance right before a new school year starts is perfect timing. Kids who can see better can perform better in school and gain confidence. It's a lifelong improvement."

The Lions World Vision Institute reports that 25% of school-age children have a vision problem severe enough to impact their learning.

The Glazer Vision Foundation has participated in 200,000 free eye screenings and helped support the distribution of 20,000 pairs of free prescription sunglasses in the Tampa Bay area.
