NEW: More Than 3 million ACA Enrollees Failed To Make Monthly Payments in January After Health Care Costs Skyrocketed Arrow

New reporting reveals that around 14% of enrollees in the Affordable Care Act marketplace - more than 3 million people - didn't pay their first bill for January coverage after Trump and Republicans refused to extend ACA tax credits. Over 20 million people saw their monthly premiums skyrocket as a result, and enrollment in the marketplace has already dropped by over 1 million people. Experts warn that ACA enrollment is likely to drop further, as many people dropped coverage after being unable to afford their premium payments.

In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

"Donald Trump and Republicans hiked health care premiums for tens of millions of Americans, and now Americans have come to the painful realization that they can't pay Trump's new monthly insurance costs. Republicans have no issue spending billions of dollars on bombs in Iran and giving billionaires more tax breaks, but they refuse to make health care affordable for millions of families in our own country. Here's the difference between Republicans and Democrats: We want to bring down costs while they think the affordability crisis is a hoax."

While Americans struggle to keep up with their health care payments, Trump has prioritized funding his deadly and costly war of choice with Iran and doubled down on his disastrous tariffs. Trump proposed an additional $445 billion per year in military spending, which could instead pay for a year of health care for nearly 48 million Americans. And on Tax Day today, Americans are seeing lower-than-promised tax refunds that won't even cover the massive price hikes caused by Trump's disastrous economic agenda.
