BUTLER COUNTY, IOWA - U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) welcomed news from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that over $7.7 million in federal funding will be flowing to communities across Iowa. The funding will benefit communities across Iowa, including in Scott, Jasper, Clay, Sioux and Lyon Counties.
"In the face of damaging storms, Iowans have always pushed forward to repair and rebuild. I'm glad to see these federal dollars coming to communities across our state so the people of Iowa can continue building a stronger future," Grassley said. "In the Senate, I'll keep working to ensure the Iowans get the support they need."
Details on the FEMA awards follow:
City of Davenport: $126,198.75 for the repair or replacement of building interiors damaged by severe storms and flooding in 2019.
City of Kellogg: $418,448.68 for the repair or replacement of building exteriors, building interiors, contents and other related components due to severe storms, tornadoes and flooding in 2024.
City of Spencer: $211,536.60 for the repair or replacement of building exteriors, building interiors, contents and exterior sites due to damage from severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes in 2024.
City of Rock Valley: $3,090,375 for private property debris removal due to severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes in 2024. The disaster caused significant damage to private property in Rock Valley, creating an immediate threat to the health and safety of residents. Approximately 123 residential properties were found to be substantially damaged.
Iowa Department of Transportation: $1,739,362.20 for Public Assistance Alternative Procedures Debris Removal operations due to severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes in 2024.
Grand Avenue Community Outreach (Spencer): $472,449.64 to fund the repair or replacement of contents and equipment due to severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes in 2024.
Lyon County Fair Association: $217,571.12 to fund park racetrack repair or replacement due to severe storms, flooding, straight-line winds and tornadoes in 2024.
Western Iowa Power Cooperative: $1,469,578.33 to fund permanent repairs due to severe winter storms in 2025. During the incident period, a severe winter storm caused damage to Western Iowa Power Cooperative's power distribution system across multiple townships.
