On Friday, February 27, 2026 at 1:45 a.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to Central Precinct responded to a report of a possible assault in progress. At first, they did not have an exact location, but they knew it was in or near the Richmond Neighborhood. Dispatchers were able to narrow the location to the 3800 block of Southeast Ivon Street. Officers converged on the area and developed information that someone may be in immediate danger inside a home. They forced entry and confronted a suspect, who jumped from the second story of the home into the backyard and ran into the neighborhood. Paramedics were requested and an assault victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Additional resources were requested to set up a perimeter around the area, including PPB officers from East Precinct. The perimeter was Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard to Southeast 37th Avenue, Southeast Division Street to Southeast Taggart Street. At 2:36 a.m., the incident commander asked dispatch to send an alert to the community via PublicAlerts of the police activity, and requested residents stay inside with doors and windows locked. Due to limited on-duty resources, PPB requested assistance from Gresham Police Department, which responded with a K9 unit and drone team. The PPB Air Support Unit was paged out, as well as a PPB K9.

They searched yard-to-yard for several hours, finally locating the suspect hiding in a trailer in a driveway within the perimeter. He was arrested at 6:39 a.m., and neighbors were alerted that the situation was resolved.

The suspect was positively identified as Aquize G. Logan, 25, of Portland. Logan has been sought by police for multiple months. Homicide Detectives identified him as a suspect in the November 16th shooting that led to the death of 14-year-old Marik Roscoe and injuries to three other males. He has actively been sought by detectives and the U.S. Marshals.

Logan was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on his active warrants for Murder in the First Degree, Attempted Murder in the First Degree (2 counts), Burglary in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree (2 counts), Assault in the Second Degree, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon (6 counts), and Menacing (2 counts). Additional charges related to the assault this morning are possible as the investigation continues.

PPB appreciates the assistance of Gresham Police.
