HAP Rebrands as Health Alliance Plan by Henry Ford Health

Troy, MI - May 19, 2026 - HAP today announced it is now Health Alliance Plan by Henry Ford Health, a name that more clearly reflects the organization's 40-year integration with Henry Ford Health. With coverage and care working together, Health Alliance Plan members experience fewer administrative barriers, better coordinated care and improved outcomes by reducing friction between provider and insurer.

"Health Alliance Plan by Henry Ford Health is built on the idea that coverage should actively improve care, not just fund it," said Bob Riney, president and CEO of Henry Ford Health. "Together, Henry Ford Health and Health Alliance Plan are at the forefront of improving healthcare outcomes and affordability."

Health Alliance Plan leverages the scale of Henry Ford Health-with its 12 hospitals, more than 550 sites of care and more than 50,000 team members-to translate proven care innovations into health plan offerings. The result is a more connected, effective and affordable experience for members, whether they receive care at Henry Ford Health or from other providers. Health Alliance Plan offers a robust provider network, with coverage that includes 96% of providers across Michigan's Lower Peninsula.

"Our new name reflects the strength of a model we've built over decades-bringing coverage and care together in ways that help people access services more easily, navigate healthcare with less friction, achieve better outcomes and reduce the cost of care," said Margaret Anderson, president of Health Alliance Plan. "As Health Alliance Plan by Henry Ford Health, we're making that advantage clearer to the members, employers and communities we serve."

Health Alliance Plan's Henry Ford Health Select plan, which was designed around the Henry Ford Health network for existing patients in the Henry Ford Health system, is a recent example of care informing coverage, offering Michigan employers approximately 15 percent lower premiums and a more connected experience through coordinated, high-quality care.

That same alignment also helps successful care innovations reach members across Health Alliance Plan's broader statewide network of providers. For example, Diabetes Care Connection, a diabetes management program first piloted within Henry Ford Health, was

expanded to Health Alliance Plan members statewide in 2025, broadening access to proven support and chronic condition management, wherever members get their care.

As part of this evolution, Health Alliance Plan is reaffirming its commitment to communities in Michigan through a $150,000 investment across four organizations working to improve health and wellbeing:

  • MATRIX Human Services, one of Michigan's oldest and largest human services nonprofits. MATRIX supports families and individuals through Head Start programs, housing stability, workforce development and senior wellness services.
  • Stay Home Safe, a Habitat for Humanity Detroit program developed in partnership with Henry Ford Health. Stay Home Safe focuses on fall prevention for low-income older adults in Wayne County-reducing injuries, emergency department visits, hospital admissions and total cost of care through critical home safety repairs and modifications.
  • Humble Design, which transforms lives by fully furnishing homes for individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness, helping create stability, dignity and a true sense of home.
  • Project Healthy Community, a Detroit-based nonprofit delivering school- and community-based nutrition, fitness and mental health education-from kindergarteners to seniors-focused on building lifelong healthy habits.

This investment reflects the organization's belief that improving health extends beyond clinical care by addressing the social and environmental factors that shape wellbeing and strengthening trusted community partnerships.

The brand evolution also includes Health Alliance Plan's third-party administrator, which will now operate as Health Alliance TPA by Henry Ford Health (formerly ASR Health Benefits), further aligning its self-funded offerings for employers with the broader integrated system.

These changes do not affect any member coverage, benefits or provider networks for Health Alliance Plan or Health Alliance TPA. Members will continue to have access to a broad provider network both within and outside Henry Ford Health. Updated materials and member ID cards will roll out on a typical schedule, while brokers and providers will continue working with the same contacts and teams.

These changes also do not impact the name of HAP CareSource, which is a joint venture between Health Alliance Plan and Ohio-based CareSource that offers Medicaid and MI Coordinated Health (MICH) plans in Michigan.
