Turvi launches: Elevating the insurtech sector with advanced SaaS technology

Today marks the official launch of TurviSM, a new insurtech company established and funded by Crawford & Company to help solve big problems in the insurance claims process. This is the culmination of our team's many months of vision and preparation. As we officially cross the starting line, I wanted to share some thoughts about how and why Turvi came to be, what it's going to mean for the claims ecosystem, and why I am so fortunate to have this opportunity.

Through smart use of emerging technologies, Turvi's solutions address common industry problems. Our SaaS tools can directly impact outcomes and ROI by helping to improve customer experience, drive brand and loyalty, increase customer retention, and lower the cost of sales and customer acquisition. Perhaps the most important thing we're doing is driving an excellent experience for every customer in the claims ecosystem, from the policyholder to the claimant to the adjuster or carrier adjuster. Our priority is to equip all of them with better, more accurate solutions that ultimately make the claims process smoother and more efficient.

At a high level, Turvi was born out of the belief that the problems that Crawford is solving through technology are bigger than just the organization and its clients - and the resulting realization that these technology solutions hold the potential to solve industry-wide challenges. We believe that by taking the products that we are developing and making them accessible to all who need them in the market, we can truly benefit the entire insurance industry.

One of the main challenges we face as an industry is the bias to keep doing things the way they've always been done. The reluctance to challenge the status quo and the institutional inertia required to overcome it are the biggest obstacles we face, and that's what we must overcome to drive change. However, technology is not a silver bullet, nor is it the solution to every problem. Our approach is broad in terms of the landscape of solutions we evaluate but very selective and vetted in terms of the adoption and partnerships we deliver. This is how we bring value to our clients.

That's where Turvi's leadership team excels. Our diversity of backgrounds and understanding of the industry's complex needs has driven us to build customized technology solutions that are uniquely equipped to address its challenges. This unbeatable combination of claims and technology expertise has enabled us to build products that are mindful not just of what technology we're using, but also how we're using it to drive real change.

During my years at Crawford, I've been afforded great opportunity to innovate and indulge my own curiosity - and this, coupled with the ability to put capital behind big ideas, has enabled us to build some incredibly creative and game-changing technology to serve our clients. Now, with Turvi, we're taking those solutions to the broader insurance market. We are honored to launch with Crawford as our biggest client, but Turvi clients do not need to be Crawford clients, which means that any company in the insurance claims ecosystem can enjoy the advantage our solutions provide - and we in turn can benefit from a broader market contributing to the conversation and driving the vision.

For me personally, Turvi is the culmination of many years working to make positive change and driving improvements in the way we do things. I often say that I'm a technologist trapped in an adjuster's body; I've always driven technology initiatives during my 30+ years at Crawford, and I'm one to take some risk when it comes to figuring out a way to drive change and make things work for the betterment of the stakeholders when implementing technology or innovating process. I'm so proud of the industry contributions that we've made as a result of those efforts. Now Turvi puts our leadership team in a position to devote ourselves fully to product development in order to accelerate industry change. And I'm so excited to get started.
