Blumenthal Statement on the Reported Firing of Pam Bondi as Attorney General

[WASHINGTON, DC] - U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released the following statement in response to the reported firing of Attorney General Pam Bondi:

"Pam Bondi has been a catastrophic Attorney General. Bondi has made the Department of Justice bend to the whims of Donald Trump and his cronies, decimating its credibility. She has retaliated against employees for simply doing their jobs and demonstrating independence and integrity by upholding the impartial administration of justice. She's taken positions in court that are completely unsustainable. She has failed to follow the law in releasing the Epstein Files, creating a culture of concealment that is a betrayal of the survivors. And despite throwing away her own credibility to be an obsequious Trump toady, she still got fired. Pam Bondi's departure is overdue and deserved, but the real problem is Trump, who confuses justice with self-interest, and sees the Department as his personal law firm."
