Chobani Project Advances with Progress at Triangle SiteView

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. today announced significant progress at the county-owned Triangle Site, where site preparation and infrastructure work are moving forward in support of Chobani's planned 2-million-square-foot dairy processing facility.

Tree clearing at the site by Chobani is underway, marking the official start of construction and representing one of the first visible steps in preparing the approximately 253 acres Chobani's massive new dairy processing facility will occupy. In addition, Oneida County is demolishing the former Hush House, a long-vacant structure on the property. Demolition is scheduled to begin later this month and is expected to take three months to complete.

"These are important and tangible milestones that show the Chobani project is moving from planning to action," Picente said. "The start of tree clearing and the demolition of the Hush House demonstrate our commitment to delivering a fully prepared, infrastructure-ready site that will support one of the largest and most transformative economic development projects in Oneida County's history."

A significant portion of site and infrastructure work at the Triangle Site is being completed by Oneida County using a combination of county and state funding. In parallel with clearing and demolition activities, other major infrastructure improvements spearheaded by Oneida County are progressing or scheduled to begin.

Reconstruction of Perimeter Road off State Route 825, which will serve as the primary access point to Chobani's future facility, is currently 50 percent complete. Work will resume in the spring and is expected to be completed in the summer of 2026.

Additional infrastructure work slated to begin this spring and be completed by Oneida County includes construction of a 12-inch steel natural gas main, a sanitary sewer pump station and force main, a new roundabout and sound barrier on State Route 825 and the installation of two transformers that will provide an additional 50 megawatts of power to the site.

Picente noted that work will continue to advance in phases throughout 2026, keeping the project aligned with planned construction timelines and reinforcing the Triangle Site's role as a key driver of regional economic growth.

The City of Rome Planning Board unanimously approved a revised site plan submitted by Chobani on February 3, 2026. The approved changes were developed with neighboring residential properties in mind and are minor. The overall facility footprint is consistent.
