BLANCO COUNTY - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will hold a virtual public meeting with an in-person option for the US 281 Blanco County Project in Blanco County, Texas.
TxDOT is developing preliminary plans to improve approximately 19 miles of US 281 from US 290 to FM 306 in Blanco County, including the US 281/US 290 interchange. The proposed project would improve safety, connectivity, and mobility by widening the roadway, adding a median, improving access, and upgrading the US 281/US 290 interchange.
The project excludes the existing four-lane segment of US 281 through the City of Blanco, where a separate relief route study is underway.
The virtual public meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation and will include both audio and visual components. The presentation will be available online by 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026. To view the virtual public meeting, visit www.txdot.gov and keyword search "US 281 Blanco County."
The in-person option will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Blanco High School Cafeteria, 1215 4th St., Blanco, Texas 78606. Attendees will be able to view the same presentation delivered in the virtual meeting, which will be playing on a screen, review hard copies of project materials, ask questions of TxDOT staff and/or consultants, and leave written comments.
The public may call 830-554-9114 to provide a verbal comment beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Formal written comments may also be provided by in-person at the public meeting, by mail to TxDOT Austin District Office, Hilina Sibeshi, P.E., Attn: US 281 Blanco County Project, 1949 S. I-35 Frontage Rd., Ste. 105, Austin, TX 78741, or by email to [email protected]. All comments must be received on or before Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, to be included in the public meeting summary report.
