Special Committee on Decolonization to Approve Work Programme, Requests for Hearings, Consider Question of 5 Non-Self-Governing Territories

The Fourth Committee (Special Political and Decolonization) meets today to approve its programme of work and timetable for its 2025 session (document A/AC.109/2025/L.2).

It will also hear "requests for hearing", which have been circulated in aides-memoires 01/25 through 09/25 relating to the Questions of the British Virgin Islands, the Falkland Islands (Malvinas)*, French Polynesia, Gibraltar, New Caledonia, the Turks and Caicos Islands, the United States Virgin Islands and Western Sahara, as well as to the Committee decision of 20 June 2024 concerning Puerto Rico.

Afterwards, in the morning, it will take up the Questions of the British Virgin Islands and French Polynesia and the related hearing. In the afternoon, it will address the Questions of New Caledonia, the Turks and Caicos Islands and the United States Virgin Islands, as well as the related hearing.
