A Rainy Rutgers Day? That’s the Forecast, so Here’s the Plan.

Many events and activities will move indoors because of wet weather predictions for Saturday, but that won't dampen the university's big event

Rain won't stop the university from throwing the giant block party that is Rutgers Day. Rather, much of the celebration is heading inside.

The premier event at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, set from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, is shifting events and activities to indoor settings on Busch campus in Piscataway, N.J., and College Avenue campus in New Brunswick, N.J.

Activities at the Cook/Douglass location remain outdoors.

"While weather has prompted us to move to a rain plan, Rutgers Day remains a vibrant celebration of our community," said Patricia Kastner, senior director of strategic events and programs for Rutgers Communications and Marketing. "We're excited to offer a full day of engaging, hands-on experiences led by our faculty, staff and students, and we encourage everyone to come out and be part of it."

Cook/Douglass

For events at the Cook/Douglass location, all programming will remain outside. Other changes include:

• Ag Field Day, a series of programs presented by the Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, will take place outdoors - including the animal shows and plant sales.
• The petting zoo will be held at the Round House at College Farm.

College Avenue

In New Brunswick, Rutgers Day programs and activities will be split between the College Avenue Gymnasium (130 College Ave.) and the College Avenue Student Center (126 College Ave.)

Other changes for Rutgers Day on College Avenue include:

• The R Garden - an art installation made of 3-D Rutgers "R" sculptures that is a Rutgers Day staple (and a fun photo opportunity) - and other programming will be in the College Avenue Student Center.
• Stage performances will be held in the College Avenue Student Center.

Busch

Programs and activities at this campus of health and science in Piscataway will be held indoors. Notable changes include:

• The Health Village - featuring activities and demonstrations focused on Rutgers Health programs and other health-related initiatives - will be held in the gymnasium of the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center, 656 Bartholomew Road.
• Engineering programs will be held in the Richard Weeks Hall of Engineering, 500 Bartholomew Road.
• Other programming, such as Rutgers Business School events, will be held in the Busch Student Center, 604 Bartholomew Road.
• Stage performances also shift from outdoors to The Cove within the Busch Student Center.
