NCSL Launches New Elections Information Hub Ahead of 2026 State Elections
WASHINGTON, D.C.-The National Conference of State Legislatures launched its new State Elections 2026 page, a comprehensive, one-stop hub to follow this year's state elections. This new resource provides information on the 2026 primary and general elections, legislative races by state and chamber, an interactive map on partisan composition, ballot measures, election administration and other key election-related topics.
On Nov. 3, 2026, voters in 46 states will choose 6,139 state legislators, deciding over 83% of all legislative seats nationwide. Additionally, voters in Washington, D.C., American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands will elect 157 legislators.
The 2026 State Elections Information Hub brings together NCSL's election resources in one place, including:
- State Partisan Composition : Every election impacts the partisan composition of state legislatures. This page includes information on current party control of state legislatures and governments.
- 2026 Legislative Races by State and Chamber: There are races in 88 of the nation's 99 legislative chambers this November. This page provides information on the number of state legislative races, by chamber, up for election in 2026.
- Statewide Ballot Measures Database: Find all ballot measures in the 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
- NCSL Elections Defined Video Series< /a>: These short videos tackle some of the election administration steps you may not have heard of.
- NCSL Election Resources : Find information on everything from voter ID and poll watchers to certification and ranked choice voting.
